5 Habits to Avoid if You’re Building a Business

Do you dream really BIG and want to achieve massive success in your business and life?

The thought of building a business while having a life can overwhelm us.

We want to figure out how to do it – all and how to do it all at once.

How do we manage our lives, raise our children, spend time with friends, keep learning and growing and creating without feeling stressed or directionless?

The fact is that running a business, whether full time or as a side-hustle isn’t easy. It takes tons of time, lots of risks, working around the clock and making major sacrifices to make things happen. It isn’t for the lighthearted!


If you find yourself making these excuses:

I don’t have enough time.

I don’t have enough money.

I’m not smart enough.

I don’t have the right opportunities.

I don’t know the right people.

Here are 5 things you should stopping doing now.

  • Stopping saying to yourself “I should”. Should is not good enough. You must have total certainty to make things happen. “Should” is a losing game. Next time you hear yourself “shoulding”, stop and decide if that’s something you really want to do or change. Then decide. Decide with total certainty that’s what you’re going to do. No excuses. No other option. And make it happen!


  • Start tracking how you spend your time. Do you waste time watching TV, spend too much time entertaining yourself on social media, going to events or parties that you don’t need to go to? We all have the same amount of time in a day. We need to choose wisely how to use it. Instead of time wasting time, use that time to work on your business. Action beats thinking about it every time.


  • Not every entrepreneur has tons of money to throw at their businesses. Most don’t. You have to find and use the resources that you have, instead of worrying about what you don’t have. You can learn almost anything. For the things that you can’t, rally up some friends or family members that can help you out. You can do an exchange for service or ask them to teach you. Or simply focus on what you can do and do that first.


  • If you feel you don’t “know the right people” then I suggest you start taking a good look at the people you do know. If they’re not supporting you and don’t understand what you’re doing, you need to find people that do. You must find a community – online or in person – to connect with regularly before you get taken down with doubt.


  • Stop stalking your competition. At the end of the day, you’re wasting time and expending energy you don’t need to. If you compare your chapter 1 with someones chapter 5, you’ll start doubting your efforts and losing track of what you want to accomplish.  And remember, if you’re chasing them, the bar is only as high as they can go and you’re limiting how far you can go.
