Thank you to Katie Thompson from K Thompson Photography for sending us this real wedding held at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet. This wedding will inspire those couple’s looking to be hands-on and plan many DIY elements for their wedding!
Joey and Kristen are rustic decor fanatics and they love taking on small DIY projects. They thought a rustic themed wedding would be a perfect representation of themselves on their big day. Bride Kristen’s favourite colour is purple so she selected a colour palette of lavender and deep plums throughout the event and which included in everything from decor to attire.
How did the couple create their DIY wedding?
Bride Kristen shopped locally at Michaels, Pier 1 and HomeSense for supplies and ready made items. To create the centrepieces, the couple painted wine bottles white and accented them with lace and burlap, cut wooden slabs for pedestals and hand cut burlap runners for the tables. Twinkling lights, mason jars and floral were added to complete a beautifully rustic look!
Chalkboard picture frames were used for signage and table numbers and a vintage window frame was refinished and transformed into a seating chart!
Kristen wasn’t sure exactly how her day would come together with all the pieces she had been collecting during the planning period but the hard work leading up to the wedding day paid off! The bride was ecstatic with the results and the compliments she received from her guests made her feel great knowing other people liked her ideas and inspiration!
We think Kristen and Joey had an outstanding DIY wedding! Congratulations!
