barebonephoto shot this memorable Waterloo Region Museum wedding of Toronto musicians whose love of music brought them together.
Couple Shiloh and Andrew met at the El Mocambo when both of their bands had performed. Immediately Shiloh felt a connection for this heartfelt curly-haired rocker. Eventually, their bands performed together again and that is when sparks really flew. Today both of their bands HotKid and Mad Ones are regulars in the Toronto music scene.
Andrew planned a proposal at an intimate canoe-in campsite at Algonquin Park, near his hometown. Shiloh doesn’t remember hearing him asking for her hand marriage because she just looked and him and said yes!
The bride’s family has a personal connection to the living history museum. Shiloh spent her summers in the village and learned how to sew on a treadle sewing machine. She celebrated birthdays and her mother and sister had worked at the venue as costumed interpreters.
The couple chose this space because brings together natural and rustic elements but with an air of elegance and grandeur. All things they loved. They also wanted tradition, handwork and elegance to be a part of their day.
Shiloh and her mother made the bridal gown themselves. The embellishments were one of the most difficult tasks they have ever attempted, but it allowed the bride and her mother to spend much appreciated time together during the planning process. The bridesmaids wore custom made dresses of jade coloured silk in by a friend, Nicole Girard of 5×5 Clothing.
We absolutely adore Shiloh’s bridal style! This one of a kind handmade gown is absolute perfection. A plunging neckline, open back, full sleeves with lace cutouts then paired with pearls and a touch of crystals, is a dramatic and feminine look that only a daring bride can pull off!
