One of the biggest shifts in bridal style in the past few years has been all of the new options in men’s attire!

Have you ever looked through an old wedding album of a family member or friend? Chances are you will notice that every groom could have been wearing the exact same tuxedo.  A black tux, white shirt and a paisley vest that matched the bridesmaid dresses and bouquets. If the groom wanted to stand out, he wore a coat tail.

Long gone are the days of only wearing black tuxedos. Like the bride, grooms are looking to suit up in an outfit that reflects his personality and taste. More men are opting to wear suits, especially if they choose to finish the look with accessories. Did you know that a tuxedo does not come with belt loops?  With more colours, fabrics, patterns and layering options, suits allow men to customize their look.

Want a more laid back event? Skip the jacket all together and focus on accessories like suspenders, shoes, bow ties, and hats.

While the classic black tuxedo will never go out of fashion, a smartly dressed confident man in any attire will make heads turn!

Wondering what look is best for your event?  Here is a breakdown of the types of men’s formal attire.

Single Breasted

The single-breasted jacket has only one set of buttons and button holes.  It can have two or three buttons.

Double Breasted

The double-breasted suit has two sets that overlap across the body. It usually has four or six buttons.

Lounge & Business Suits

Lounge suits are usually single breasted  and  are more casual and laid back.  They are also available in a range of colours. The fit is more comfortable compared to a more formal look.  Business suits are similar to the lounge suit but has a more formal cut, pattern options and darker shades.

Mandarin Suits

A mandarin collar is a short unfolded, straight  or rounded edged stand-up collar style on a shirt or jacket. Mandarin collars start at the neckline and typically rise vertically two to five centimeters.

Tuxedos

The best option when attending a Black Tie Event. The tux is a formal evening suit, typically in black and worn with a formal shirt, shoes and other accessories such as a cummerbund.
